I thoroughly enjoyed this property - comfortable and fascinating hotel.
Everything was great, brilliant location so close to Catania airport, and Ortigia even in the private car park, really friendly staff. The room was bright and fairly quiet with delightful views of the sea. It offered welcoming service and fine food too.

Location in old town is super and the building is charming. The bath below well worth a look. A quick dip in the sea to cool off is only 50 mts so once car is parked everything is within walking distance
In reality there is no Internet to the rooms. Access to Internet is limited to small area in breakfast room which is often locked off or sitting on the stairs

CLose the city center. the historic neighborhood and decoraion of the hotel
Breakfast is a bit poor, no fresh fruits. No fresh pastries nor bread neither. In a country like Italy this is really a pitty since food is usually exceptionnal. Cleanliness was not very high: we found dust in our room, sanitaries were clean but quite old with odours. This could be explained with the hotel being an historic building. Still we didnt find any real effort from the management to improve the infrastructures (lighting, hair dryer, etc...) Unfortunately, there is nobody after 8 pm at the reception but it is not a major issue since the personnel was very efficient and helpful.

We had a large, comfortable suite, and the building this hotel is in is wonderful. A medieval structure that has been beautifully renovated with gorgeous antiques tastefully arranged. The ancient Jewish ritual bath they discovered under the hotel during renovations makes a fascinating visit in Ortigia's history. The staff is competent and responsive, although not particularly warm.

The honest truth about this
The location places you right at the heart of the bustling city center, with tastefully renovated spaces and rooms that feature mini kitchens.
Sadly, the maintenance leaves much to be desired, with issues like mold in showers and not-so-clean bedding being a constant concern.

We loved the hotels design which strongly represented the classical style with excellent displays around the building. The staff were extremely helpful and we would certainly consider to stay again.

Fabulous building. Lovely room with a great terrace looking out over roofs. Comfortable bed. Built over small museum.
No instructions about how to use the TV. Reported to staff and told someone would have a look the next day - not too much use as we were only staying one night! Wifi did not work in the room.

The staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. The location is excellent and the building is interesting. Lovely architecture, stylishly decorated/furnished and the ancient Jewish baths below the hotel are fascinating... There are daily tours to visit them.
We did not have a view from our rooms as the hotel is situated in a narrow alleyway. However I believe one room does have a roof terrace. Hot water took a few minutes to come through the system, but once it arrived it was plentiful.

A great hotel in the old Jewish Quarter of Ortegia. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the islet on foot. Rooms are comfortable and include a small kitchen. You can also take a tour of the Jewish purification baths which are situated 60 m below the Hotel. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast is good - fruit juices, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, coffee, cold meats and cheese.
Parking is difficult close by to the Hotel (the streets in Ortegia are extremely narrow). Do not park in yellow lines as these are reserved for residents, with blue lines you will need to pay either by meter or parking vouchers. Parking within white lines is free but beware any restrictions (such as only for loading/unloading maximum stay 15 mins). As you enter Ortegia by one of the bridges you can park by the quayside in a white line space for free. The walk to the Hotel is then about 10 to 15 mins.

You asked, I answered

The appartment was large and had glorious views of the sea.
Was slightly disappointed that there had not be a pre check done by the staff before we arrived. There were no plugs for the wash basin and bath, the shower holder was faulty, not enough cutlery and the TV did not work. The staff did deal with the problems when told. The breakfast could have been better, especially with the market close by with fresh fruit etc.

I really enjoyed my stay, especially the spacious double room and the little courtyard where we had some pizzas and beers. The hotel had this lovely garden area perfect for lounging, and it was great for unwinding after a day out. Just a heads up, I wish there were a few more basics, like cleaning supplies in the mini kitchen. 😊
